What Your Carpet Warranty Isn't Telling You

Most homeowners in Castle Rock don't know this: that new carpet warranty you have actually requires professional hot water extraction every 12 to 18 months. And not just any cleaning. If you read the fine print from Shaw, Mohawk, and other big carpet mills, it says the cleaning must be done with a truck-mounted, hot water extraction system.

If you use a portable or you don't have proof of professional cleaning, they can void your warranty. Why do they require truck-mounted? Because it's the only system that is approved by the IICRC and the carpet manufacturers themselves. Here's why the mills in Castle Rock insist on it.  It Protects the Carpet Fibers. Those little portable machines and rental machines from the grocery store leave soapy residue behind. That residue acts like a magnet for dirt and it actually breaks down carpet fibers faster. Truck-mounted uses much hotter water and rinses completely clean, so there is no residue left to damage the carpet. It Protects Your Pad and Subfloor. Portable machines don't have enough vacuum power. They leave your carpet wet for a day or two. That water soaks into the pad and can cause mold and delamination where the backing separates. A truck-mounted pulls 95% of the water back out, so your carpet in Castle Rock dries in hours. It Keeps Your Warranty Valid. When we clean your carpet in Castle Rock, you get a receipt showing truck-mounted hot water extraction, which is exactly what Shaw and Mohawk ask for to keep that 10, 15, or 25-year warranty in good standing.
