Use Water / Club Soda to Spot Clean Carpets

Once you spill something on the carpet and you don't have a bottle of spot cleaner you will need a cleaning solution that you can use from something in your pantry such as club soda and water. Most common spills can be blotted up with this solution. 

Water: Try just taking an empty spray bottle and then fill it with tap water and dampen the spill. Introducing water allows the spot to be diluted, resulting in an easier cleanup. 

It is important that you don't over saturate the stain with water. Any excess liquid can seep down into the carpet padding and create the perfect environment for mold spores to grow and populate.  

Club Soda: If you have some club soda in your pantry this believe it or not can help with most spots and it will not leave a residue. Club soda is well known for its use in removing all kinds of spills and stains because of its  carbonation. Once the spill has been thoroughly blotted, you can spray a small amount of your club soda onto the stain and then gently bot away the stain. Repeat the process until the stain is completely gone.
