Highlands Ranch carpet gets dirtier than most Colorado homes. We have red clay soil that stains fibers. We have hard water minerals that leave grit behind. And from October to April, we have road salt and ice melt chemicals tracked in from C-470 and Highlands Ranch Parkway.
That is why national advice of every 18 months does not work here.
For homes with kids, pets, or allergies, you need professional cleaning every 6 months. Red clay and dander settle deep and will not vacuum out. Entryways near trails in BackCountry, Westridge, and Northridge show that reddish tint first.
For average families with 2 to 4 people and no pets, every 9 to 12 months is best. The most important cleaning is in April, right after winter. It removes months of salt and mineral buildup.
For low-traffic homes or single occupants, every 12 to 18 months is okay if you vacuum twice a week and use doormats at every door. For businesses, retail and restaurants should clean monthly to every 6 weeks. Offices should clean quarterly. HOA common areas should clean twice a year, in October and April.
The IICRC says carpet should be cleaned at least once a year. In Highlands Ranch, with red clay and hard water, 12 months should be the maximum for most homes.TLC Carpet Care is IICRC certified with 23 years in Highlands Ranch.
